Title

An excellent place to start if you know the first word or two of a title, but not the entire thing.  This is the default setting when you click on the Browse button on the library's webpage.  Do not use words such as: a, an, the when conducting your search.

Author

The second choice on the drop-down menu.  Enter the author's name as a last name, first name entry.  When the results come up, simply click on the author you want.

Subject

This is particularly helpful if you don't have an author or a book title to look for.  Say your topic is medieval law.  Simply type in those words in the search box, select subject as the way to search and you will be taken to a results page that allows you to click on law, medieval which displays the books we have on that particular subject.

There are other options to browse for, such as an ISBN or ISSN number (the way to identify a book), Library of Congress number, a series a corporate name and many more.  The three highlighted above will probably be the most useful to you in your research.
